Rainbow Jungle

Rainbow Jungle is regarded as Australia’s most beautiful parrot habitat. Described as one of the wonders of Western Australia, this is a unique complex with a genuine touch of magic. Walk on the wild side. You will find the largest parrot free flight aviary in the country, with the biggest flock of Purple Crowned Lorikeets in the world and other brightly coloured Australian parrots.

You will wander through the centre along paved brick pathways, through landscaped tropical gardens, past waterfalls, fountains, stained glass windows, gargoyles and lily ponds. You will enjoy close encounters with our black, red and yellow local white tailed Cockatoos and don’t be surprised if you hear them say ‘hello’ as you pass by.

Around every corner there are parrots in all colours of the rainbow, such as the Eclectus Parrot and the colourful and mischievous blue and gold South American Macaws. Upon arrival at Rainbow Jungle you will find ample parking for coaches, private vehicles and caravans. Australian made souvenirs, post cards, calming music CD’s by John Barnard, tea and coffee, cool drinks and ice creams are available to enjoy in our relaxation area where background, ambient music is playing.

A free BBQ facility and covered picnic area are provided and there is easy wheelchair access to most areas including the toilets. Our staff will do their best to make sure your visit is an enjoyable experience – they help us to be the best. Please note that the last entrance is 4pm… because you need at least an hour to see everything!

Rainbow Jungle continues to be admired by visitors from far and wide. It is a world class, multi award winning attraction and reportedly is the highlight of the majority of most tourists’ holidays in Kalbarri.

We sell traditional fish n chips as ’take-away’ produced with premium West Australian fish and chips from the south west. To go with this we offer a range of home made fresh salads or gourmet burgers as an alternative.
Essentially we strive to provide a high quality take away meal that our customers will enjoy and choose to come back for more!

Although the shop is now is a relatively modern building, it’s origins do actually date back more than 30 years when crayfishermen cooked crayfish in old iron drums and sold cheap and delicious sandwiches—at the back of someone’s shack in what was then the location of the original Anchorage Caravan Park!

John Molcher in 1999 Established a fine food restaurant in a small fishing town, now a popular international tourist stop on the west coast.

Seafood taken fresh from the Indian ocean gives John and his chefs affordable cuisine while overlooking the Murchison River.

Our Business overlooks Gantheume Bay where the Murchison River and the Indian Ocean meet (Kalbarri).

Our name comes from a large pointed Black Rock ,lifted from the natural reef in 1984 after a violent storm…

The Rock is now used as a navigational guide to mark the channel entrance for Kalbarri fishing fleet and the many boating enthusiasts.

Grass Tree Cafe and Restaurant Kalbarri

The Grass Tree Restaurant brings a touch of contemporary elegance to Kalbarri while still retaining the casual relaxed ambience characteristic of this coastal town. The vibrant orange flags and chairs first draw attention, though it’s hard to walk past the stunning sea views. Locals have grown to love the aromatic Asian delights. The grilled prime scotch fillet is served with roast new potato, red wine eshalots and oriental bearnaise, while the crayfish comes in a creamy whisky sauce. Few can pass up the tantalising pear and apple tarts.

Inside, the multicultural theme continues with paintings from Switzerland and China and furnishings from Asia. The only exception is the wine list which, aside from the French Veuve Clicquot and a smattering of South Australian and Victorian labels, are all from WA’s premium wine producers.
